Description
Director of Field Services and Strategic Projects for The International Brangus Breeders Association The International Brangus Breeders Association (IBBA) is seeking to fill a newly-created senior level position to play a pivotal role in advancing the Brangus breed. The Director of Field Services and Strategic Projects will report to the Executive Vice President and will serve in a strategic and highly visible role. IBBA is a 70-year-old association operating with state-of-the-art information systems and cutting edge genetic evaluation. The association serves members in the United States and Mexico with plans to provide services to Brangus breeders on a global scale. Travel is required, estimated at 40-50% with seasonal variability, including some weekend travel to sales and events. Although not an initial requirement, applicants with a long-term career view should anticipate locating near San Antonio, the location of IBBA’s headquarters. Duties and Responsibilities • Manage and lead strategic projects, including the Brangus Vigor Program and the Brangus Value Project. • Assist members in using the Regstr system through one-on-one tutorials and area/regional workshops. • Attend sales and events, including time at the podium promoting Brangus and IBBA. • Attend state cattle association conventions and trade shows. • Develop a network of university extension contacts and other influencers with the goal of positively influencing their perception of Brangus genetics. • Promote and teach disciplined data collection and submission by members. Utilize regional/area workshops and one-on-one visits with members. • Identify and recruit new commercial bull customers. • Sell advertising space in the Brangus Journal, the Frontline Beef Producer magazine, and the IBBA Sire Directory. • Develop a network of contacts in the feeder cattle marketing business, including video sales representatives, order buyers and auction barns. • Develop relationships with feedlots, with the goal of creating stronger demand for Brangus feeder cattle. • Author articles for the Brangus Journal and Frontline magazines. Compensation and Consideration • Salary commensurate with experience and education. • Company- funded health insurance. • Company contribution to Simple IRA. • Company vehicle or a paid vehicle allowance – negotiable. • Paid vacation, scaled to time of service. • Relocation assistance if locating near San Antonio. Vision IBBA believes that Brangus genetics deserve a much larger footprint in the beef industry. While registration volume has remained steady, IBBA believes it can grow significantly. Brangus should re-gain market share that has been lost to Angus in areas of the country where the heat tolerance of Brangus is a significant advantage. Brangus breeders have significantly improved the carcass value and the terminal performance of the breed, making them competitive with the best cattle in the industry. The Director of Field Services and Strategic Projects has the opportunity to make a big footprint in the beef industry and, more particularly, in the Brangus business. The association is looking for a person with the ambition, intelligence, imagination and personal motivation to embrace bold new ideas and elevate Brangus to the position that the breed deserves. Deadline: The position will remain open until filled with a qualified candidate. Next step: Send a cover letter and comprehensive resume to the contact below. Applications will be treated confidentially upon request. Contact: Darrell L. Wilkes, Ph.D. Executive Vice President IBBA dwilkes@gobrangus.com 210-696-8231
