Description
Are you interested in integrating research, extension, and communication to help build more resilient and sustainable agricultural systems in Washington State, the Pacific Northwest and beyond? Join our team as a new, full-time Assistant Applied Scientist! Our active projects are developing tools to forecast, assess and manage current and future water resources for agriculture and other multiple purposes, including municipal uses and flows for fish and hydropower. They also include projects to explore more resilient dryland cropping system strategies, and projects that use advanced data and robotics to improve perennial crop management. Our projects are strongly interdisciplinary and multi-institutional, include both minority-serving institutions and land grant institutions, and integrate activities to encourage participation of diverse individuals and groups in technology development and deployment. Projects also intentionally explore the social, institutional and economic environment in which technologies are deployed. If you are interested in these complex socio-ecological systems, and in providing information that helps decision-makers manage shared resources, this position is for you! You can find the full job posting online. The position is being posted in two ways to give applicants career path choices within Washington State University. You may apply to either of the two listings (please apply to only one): 1) Social Scientific Assistant. https://wsu.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/WSU_Jobs/job/Assistant-Applied-Scientist_R-3547-1 2) Faculty Associate in Research / Research Associate. https://wsu.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/WSU_Jobs/job/GENERAL-CAMPUS---WENATCHEE/Assistant-Applied-Scientist_R-3509
