- Assist sheep and goat producers who have never used livestock guardian dogs (LGD), or have tried in the past and for various reasons no longer use LGD, to develop a successful LGD program for their operation.
- This person will conduct educational programs on LGD and work with individual ranchers to develop a successful LGD program.
- They will assist in research to provide more definitive answers to questions on how to effectively use LGD. This research will include working on AgriLife locations and with cooperators.
- To accomplish these goals the person in this position is expected to interact with successful users of LGD to learn from their experience, as well as to search the internationally available literature on LGD to develop a strong research and experienced based knowledge to draw on to assist both new and experienced users of LGD to be successful.
- The successful applicant is expected to develop web and print educational materials as well as a social media presence.
- Qualifications
- Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
- Six years of relevant experience.
- M.S. degree in relevant field
- Knowledge and experience using geographical information systems.
- Some overnight travel will be required for this position.
