Description
A research faculty member is needed to build an active livestock nutrition research program in Alaska. The individual is expected to build, conduct, and lead research pertinent to ruminant production in Alaska, and will be able to deliver research results to diverse clients. They will effectively collaborate with professionals on and off campus in research and outreach. This position is responsible for developing an active research program in animal nutrition with an emphasis on ruminant herds. The research objective for the incumbent is to develop an innovative, transformative and translative, and extramurally-funded research on nutritional systems physiology to enhance nutritional efficiency of sustainable ruminant production and product quality. Areas of interest include but are not limited to the lifecycle of the herd, matching forage availability and nutritional resources, and enhancing forage utilization. This nine month, term-funded position is based in Palmer, Alaska with a responsibility to the whole state in research and service. This individual is encouraged to obtain external funding for up to a 12 month contract. The ideal candidate will have the ability to build an active research program that meets stakeholder needs, uses advanced techniques in cell and molecular biology, and has a record of outstanding professional accomplishments. The work of this candidate will support the identified needs to improve the food security and independence in Alaska through increased livestock production.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. Degree (at time of employment) in Animal Science or related field with an emphasis in animal (ruminant) nutrition. A valid driver license or the ability to obtain one. Position Details: This position is located in Palmer Alaska. This is a full-time, exempt faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
